Following the visit last month of our Metropolitan, His Excellence Joseph, there is hope that we shall be able to reopen the church on a permanent basis next year. This will most probably happen at the beginning of May, when I expect to move in; until then, I’ll do my best to come as often as I can to celebrate the Divine Liturgy (the Christian Orthodox word for a ‘mass’) and to keep the church open for those who wish to come in and pray.
So far, I’ll do my best to be there on the following dates (if anything changes, I shall announce it on this website):
July, 6 (Saturday)
August, 6 (Tuesday), when we celebrate the Feast of Transfiguration
August, 15 (Thursday), Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God
October, 1 (Tuesday), Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God
November, 8 (Friday), Feast of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel
November, 21 (Thursday), Feast of the Entry into the Temple of the Mother of God
December, 6 (Friday), Feast of St Nicholas
December, 28 (Saturday), shortly after Christmas Day
On each occasion, I shall try to take the first ferry from Oban and get to the Monastery as early in the morning as I can; to be on the safe side, the church will definitely be open between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm on each of these dates, but I hope get there earlier than 10:30.
If you wish to come in and pray, please feel free to do so. I would be very pleased to meet you; I shall celebrate the Divine Liturgy entirely in English and, once the service is over, I shall try to answer any questions you may have. The only thing I ask of you is to behave with respect for this beautiful church and our services.
In the meantime, should you have any other questions and need to get in touch with me, please email me at ierom.serafim@yahoo.co.uk.
